2027: the Dragon
2027 is 丁未 dīng wèi, the Fire Goat. If you were born in a dragon year, here is the traditional reading — and the part that is not folklore at all, the character itself.
| Lunar new year begins | February 6, 2027 |
| Year name | 丁未 dīng wèi — the Fire Goat |
| Runs until | January 26, 2028 |
| Your animal | 龙 Dragon — No special tie |
The character 龙
The oracle-bone 龍 is a creature that never existed: a horned head, an open mouth, and a long serpentine body. Unlike every other zodiac animal, the dragon was never drawn from life — it's a composite, and it was already a composite when the character was first carved.
That is the honest core of this page. Whatever you decide about the astrology, 龙 is a real object with a real history, and it has been drawn more or less the same way for three thousand years.
Dragon and Goat in 2027
No special tie to the goat
In the traditional 合冲害 system the dragon has no special tie to the goat. No pairing, no clash, no harm. In a goat year, that is the quiet position — nothing pulling, nothing pushing.
What this page is: 合冲害 is a traditional Chinese way of talking about relationships between the twelve signs. It is folklore, not prediction — treat it the way you would treat a horoscope column. The part of this page you can actually learn something from is the character.
Years of the Dragon
The dragon returns every twelve years. Recent ones:
2024 · 2012 · 2000 · 1988 · 1976 · 1964 · 1952 · 1940
Every one of these is a lunar year, beginning at Chinese New Year rather than January 1. If you were born in January or early February, your animal is usually the previous year's — the zodiac finder handles those edge cases.
