Last month my Chinese friend Xiao Wang came over to my place.
tā他gěi给wǒ我men们zuò做le了yí一gè个zhōng中guó国cài菜。
He cooked a Chinese dish for us.
nà那ge个cài菜lǐ里yǒu有jī鸡dàn蛋hé和yáng羊ròu肉，fēi非cháng常hǎo好chī吃。
It had egg and lamb in it, and it was delicious.
wǒ我wèn问tā他zěn怎me么zuò做，tā他xiào笑le了yī一xià下，shuō说：nǐ你kě可yǐ以xué学xí习。
I asked him how to make it. He laughed and said: you can learn.
xīng星qī期liù六wǒ我qù去shāng商diàn店mǎi买le了jī鸡dàn蛋、yáng羊ròu肉hé和yī一xiē些cài菜。
On Saturday I went to the shop and bought eggs, lamb and some vegetables.
kāi开shǐ始de的shí时hou候，wǒ我jué觉de得méi没yǒu有wèn问tí题。
At the start I thought it would be no problem.
dàn但shì是wǒ我zuò做cuò错le了yī一jiàn件shì事qíng情：shuǐ水tài太duō多le了。
But I got one thing wrong: there was far too much water.
suǒ所yǐ以wǒ我zuò做de的cài菜bù不hǎo好chī吃。
So the dish I made didn't taste good.
qī妻zǐ子chī吃le了yì一diǎn点ér儿，jiù就xiào笑le了。
My wife took one bite and burst out laughing.
tā她shuō说：méi没guān关xi系，xià下cì次zài再zuò做ba吧。
She said: it's fine, try again next time.
wǒ我gěi给xiǎo小wáng王dǎ打diàn电huà话，wèn问tā他wèi为shén什me么。
I called Xiao Wang and asked him why.
tā他gào告sù诉wǒ我：shuǐ水yào要shǎo少yì一diǎn点ér儿。
He told me: you need less water.
wǒ我xiǎng想zài再zuò做yī一cì次。
I wanted to give it another go.
zuó昨tiān天wǎn晚shàng上wǒ我zuò做le了，zhè这cì次de的shuǐ水fēi非cháng常shǎo少。
I made it last night, and this time there was very little water.
cài菜zuò做dé得hěn很hǎo好，wǒ我jué觉de得zhēn真hǎo好chī吃。
The dish turned out well — I thought it was really tasty.
suī虽rán然méi没yǒu有xiǎo小wáng王zuò做de的hǎo好，dàn但shì是wǒ我yǐ已jīng经hěn很gāo高xìng兴le了。
It wasn't as good as Xiao Wang's, but I was already delighted.
wǒ我de的nǚ女ér儿shuō说：bà爸ba爸zuò做de的cài菜bǐ比fàn饭diàn店de的hái还hǎo好chī吃。
My daughter said: Dad's cooking is even better than the restaurant's.
xiàn现zài在wǒ我měi每gè个xīng星qī期dōu都zuò做yī一cì次zhōng中guó国cài菜。
Now I cook a Chinese dish once every week.
xià下cì次wǒ我yào要qǐng请xiǎo小wáng王lái来wǒ我jiā家chī吃dōng东xi西。
Next time I'm inviting Xiao Wang over to eat at my place.
